A new laser-based 3D printing technique that uses optical fibers could be the way forward to fabricate custom bio-compatible devices inside the human body to repair damaged tissue.
Researchers at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne developed the technique—a compact, relatively inexpensive 3D-printing method that uses optical fibers as thin as a human hair to create microstructures.
