In the opening address by Minister Lawrence Wong at the 5th Urban Sustainability R&D Congress, he said: “Under advanced construction, we are exploring additive manufacturing or 3D printing for buildings. This enables industry players to speed up construction and improve construction quality, while reducing manpower, cost and wastage.”
In day 2 of the congress Mahendran V Reddy, Director of Ecosystem Development of NAMIC spoke on the “Emerging 3D Printing Technologies and Applications”. He gave audiences a deep dive into the global trends of digital adoption of 3D Printing in the building and construction sector as well as the relevance and adoption of Construction 3D printing in how it can transform the sector in Singapore.
The Congress is a national platform for government agencies, research community and industries to come together to discuss R&D responses for urban solutions and sustainability. It was held on the 23 – 24 July 2019 at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre.
