Future of Additive Manufacturing – Grand Challenges (May 2022)

What does it take for Additive Manufacturing (AM) to move beyond? This webinar will continue explore the grand challenges of AM and its potential for growth. There will be two talks followed by a panel discussion. The session will be moderated by Prof Paulo Bartolo, SC3DP Executive Director.

The monthly Inspiring Ideas Webinar Series aims to cover the different aspects of AM, drawing insights from global academic and industry thought-leaders to generate discussion and action on the advancement of AM technology and its integration into the emerging suite of Industry 4.0 digital technologies.

 

Speakers:

Mr Pierre Forêt

Pierre Forêt, is a French engineer who joined Linde in 2009. He currently holds the position of Director R&D and oversees Linde’s Technology R&D – Additive Manufacturing in Munich, leading a team developing new gas solutions including powder atomization, laser powder-bed fusion and binder jetting. He holds an M.Sc in Material Science.

Professor Michael Schmidt

Prof. Michael Schmidt is Managing Director of the Bavarian Laser Center (blz). He heads the chair for photonic technologies at the University of Erlangen, is also the current President of Wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft Lasertechnik e.V. (WLT) and has extensive contacts in the global photonics sector.
