COLLABORATION IS KEY TO ENHANCING THE COMPETITIVENESS OF OUR MANUFACTURING SECTOR – 3 MOUS SIGNED AT NAMIC GLOBAL AM SUMMIT 2019

The signing ceremony for the 3 MoUs was held at the NAMIC Summit 2019: Industrial Transformation Asia Pacific Conference 2019 at the Singapore Expo. Speaking at the NAMIC Global AM Summit, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry and Ministry of Education Mr Chee Hong Tat highlighted that collaboration is key to enhancing the competitiveness of our manufacturing sector.

“With frequent disruptions and rapid changes in the operating environment, companies’ initial instinct might be to compete with each other. But it is often difficult and time consuming to embark on the Industry 4.0 journey alone. A better way to address such challenges is for companies to come together and work with like-minded partners, in order to bring about mutual benefits and potential synergies”, he said.

Appended below are the 3 MoUs signed:

1. NAMIC and Siemens – The National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Cluster (NAMIC) signed a memorandum of understanding with SIEMENS, a global player in the advanced manufacturing industry, providing hardware, software and information management services to help companies digitalise and automate their operations.

2. TÜV SÜD PSB and NUS Centre for Additive Manufacturing (AM.NUS) – TÜV SÜD, a globally acclaimed German safety and quality expert, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the NUS Centre for Additive Manufacturing (AM.NUS) at the National University of Singapore (NUS), to promote R&D activities in the area of 3D printed biomedical implants for clinical trials.

3. TÜV SÜD and thyssenkrupp Innovations – The Singapore arm of the German safety and quality expert, TÜV SÜD, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with thyssenkrupp Innovations, an innovative additive manufacturing solutions provider, to establish the principles governing their cooperation in jointly developing the market for additive-manufacturing-enabled solutions in the Asia Pacific region.
