This project aims to enhance additive manufacturing digital twin software and support wider industrial adoption.
SINGAPORE — The National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Cluster (NAMIC) announced a partnership initiative that will unlock a competitive advantage for companies seeking to scale up AM adoption. Led by A*STAR Institute of High Performance Computing (A*STAR IHPC) and supported by NAMIC, the project will commercialise AI-enabled physics-based models using its proprietary additive manufacturing digital twin (AM-DT) software for commercial deployment. SynaCore, a Singapore-based startup incorporated in July this year, facilitated by A*STAR and NAMIC, will license the resulting technology for real-world industrial deployment.
Advancing Singapore’s Additive Manufacturing Frontier
The partnership will focus on adapting A*STAR IHPC’s AM-DT software for different Laser Powder Bed Fusion machines. AM-DT is designed to address a key industry challenge of developing optimal printing parameters for parts printed across different systems and materials. The AI-powered computational modelling and digital workflows created by A*STAR IHPC aim to help users achieve faster go-to-market solutions with optimal printing parameters, based on their needs and systems. This innovation is expected to support Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and speed up the deployment of additive manufacturing for industrial and consumer applications.
Technology Translation Through Industry Partnership
Under this collaboration, SynaCore will license and commercialise the technology, integrating it into their services for potential customers. SynaCore will also work with A*STAR’s Additive Innovation Centre (AIC), one of NAMIC’s technology translation hubs, to jointly engage potential users of the technology. The partnership reflects the link between Singapore’s public R&D ecosystem and industry, supporting the translation of research into practical manufacturing solutions.
This project is expected to enhance Singapore’s industrial competitiveness by helping companies adopt AM more efficiently, with the potential to reduce production risks and accelerate time-to-market.
Supporting National Manufacturing Priorities
The initiative aligns with Singapore’s national push toward advanced manufacturing, digitalisation, and sustainability. By developing locally engineered AM technologies and nurturing public-private collaboration, the project aims to contribute to Singapore’s innovation ecosystem and accelerate enterprise adoption of advanced manufacturing capabilities.

About the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Cluster (NAMIC)
The National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Cluster (NAMIC) is a national platform hosted by the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), supported by the National Research Foundation under the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Trade and Industry, together with Enterprise Singapore and the Singapore Economic Development Board. NAMIC aims to accelerate the adoption of hybrid and digital additive manufacturing technologies under Singapore’s Manufacturing and Economy 2030 Vision, helping industries transform towards innovation and high value-added manufacturing using sustainably sourced, nature-based designs and cradle-to-cradle on-demand manufacturing. NAMIC achieves this by focusing on value capture and creation through an industry sectorial engagement approach, leveraging on public-private partnerships and R&D investments, supporting translational research, and accelerating industry test-bedding towards commercial scale-up. NAMIC continues to grow its international outreach, identifying and supporting deep-tech companies incorporating AM technologies seeking capital injection either through project joint funding or its investor networks.
