A pioneering 3D printing business spun out of the University of Liverpool is set to “revolutionise” additive manufacturing (AM) and plans to create more jobs.
Two-year-old Meta Additive was co-founded by senior lecturer Dr Kate Black in October 2019 as a spin-out from the University’s Engineering department.
It was acquired by US-based Desktop Metal in November 2021 and enters 2022 with plans for its 3D printing technology.
Its approach reduces production costs by adapting standard binder-jet-printing to be suitable for mass manufacturing, rather than requiring the purchase of industrial-grade printers.
