Indulging in the plant-based dietary trends with Karana, a SG-based startup that had raised US$1.7m seed funding to build the regional foodtech team and to launch the range of products. Karana had chosen jackfruit to be their first-based ingredient to develop “pork”, made from organic jackfruit.
For its first ingredient, Karana has used proprietary techniques to transform “responsibly sourced organic jackfruit into a ‘pork’ that comes shredded or minced”, the company said.
