A Decade of Innovation. A Commitment to Inclusion.

As NAMIC celebrates our 10th anniversary, we are grateful for the opportunity to contribute back to society through a CSR initiative that reflects our belief in innovation with purpose — Singapore’ first 3D-printed braille book for young children with visual impairments. This braille book is built upon the know-how of NAMIC Hub@SIT, and the prints are supported by NAMIC hubs.

See how innovation and empathy come together to build a more inclusive Singapore.

Stories You Can Feel: The Power of Inclusive Innovation

Developed in collaboration with Tusitala, a local digital storytelling studio, and iC2 PrepHouse, a charity supporting children with visual impairments, the 3D-printed braille storybook was inspired by Timmy and Tammy at the Botanic Gardens by Ruth Wan-Lau and Eliz Ong.

Supported by DesignSingapore’s Good Design Research (GDR) grant, the project brought together children, parents, and educators to co-create tactile books that integrate raised illustrations, textured elements and Braille Neue, a special typeface that combines braille and printed books, making reading a shared sensory experience between child and caregiver.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all our partners and collaborators who made this initiative possible. Your support reminds us that when technology is guided by empathy, it can truly change lives.

As we look ahead, NAMIC remains committed to driving innovation that not only transforms industries but also uplifts communities.

Together, let’s keep building a future where technology and empathy go hand in hand.
