National University Hospital patients with complex medical conditions requiring surgery could reduce the time they spend on the operating table by half. This is thanks to a new 3D printing lab, which will help surgeons with pre-operative planning. The lab will be able to print patient-specific body parts like hips and knee joints, as well as soft tissue like organs. Surgeons will use them to simulate and practise specific steps during a surgery, anticipate challenges and fine-tune their plans.
